My mother entered Canada on a regular 6 months visa. She had her previously applied super visa approved while in Canada and got it printed in the US through a friend. Does she have to travel to extend her stay or would it be possible to apply for a visitor record to extend her stay instead? Will her super visa be voided if she applies for a visitor record instead of traveling?

She can always try to extend her stay as a visitor. Won’t impact her supervisa. When she returns home and reestablishes ties to her home country she can attempt to reenter Canada to visit on the supervisa.
