Extend stay in Canada by Crossing US Border?

Hello Expert, need advice.

My parents have US Visa so can they cross the border and extend their stay in Canada after returning from the states? They are planning to stay in Canada for 8 months instead of 6.

They can do it - but risky. CBSA might not even extend but allow them in on their original six month visit.

If they want to stay longer, far better to apply for an extension from within Canada.
