Express Entry and Passport validity

Hi,

Is it mandatory to submit a passport with more than 6 months validity with e-APR or it should not matter as long as you submit a passport with 6 months validity when they stamp the visa?

My current passport will expire in next 5 months and I plan to renew it immediately after. Will that be possible?

I'm searched the forums and cic site and the information is a bit confusing. I appreciate any info.

I have contacted the Canadian immigration office in my country and they confirmed it is fine to apply using my current document as long as I renew it before a decision is made.

Also, someone gave a good advice that I should upload a letter of explanation with the passport that says I plan to renew it in next few months.

Hope that helps others who might be in a similar situation.

Do I get it rights that CIC from Jan, 2016 now needs only bio page of passport, and no need to scan all marked pages with visas and stamps?

May be off-topic but still passport related.
