I am reaching out for advice and guidance. My husband and I are currently living in Ontario, we are navigating the complexities of immigration.
My husband has a closed work permit and works as a manager in an IT company. However, his CRS score is 410, which is quite low, We are concerned that this might impact our chances of obtaining permanent residency.
I, on the other hand, have an Open Work Permit. I am interested in taking short term courses, such as Personal Support Worker (PSW), to enhance my job prospects. My questions is:
1) Am I eligible to take short-term courses like PSW or any other with an Open Work Permit?
2) If I complete the course and secure a job in that field, can I apply for PR as a primary applicant?
3) If my husband is applying for PR without me then he is gaining some additional score. If by any chance he gets the PR then what process we have to follow to get the sponsorship (Spouse and Child). Is it complex process or we just need to fill some forms and some additional time to get PR for Spouse and Child.

Tbh, your score is way too low to land permanent residency. It will be very difficult for you folks to land a PR via Express Entry. From what I remember, even the PNP scores are high enough.
1. You are eligible to take short-term courses that are less than six months in duration without needing a separate study permit
2. Yes
3. Even by removing you, I don't think your spouse will qualify for any streams. Regardless, people game IRCC that way, but do the right thing and qualify on merits vs misrepresenting yourself. Integrity matters. Spousal sponsorship isn't very complicated, but do the right thing and don't cheap out. There are many who don't abuse the system and miss their chances.
Would add for question 3 it appears that IRCC is getting more firm when it comes to needing a justification for not including your spouse on your application if they are in Canada. If you don’t include them your score could be reassessed if IRCC determines they aren’t truly non-accompanying.
