Hi,

My PR card expired and I didn't fulfil the 2 years obligation. Now I want to return to Canada. A friend of mine told me that I can still do that if I drive through the US borders as they do not ask for a valid PR. I am currently in the US but I am not a US citizen.

Is that possible? please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Emiliano

If you do that, you will basically be illegal in Canada. What would you plan to do if you try to get a drivers license or register for health care and somebody asks about your immigration status? Show them your expired PR card? Suppose you could tell them you have already applied for a new one since it takes 3 months to get but what if they tell you then bring the new one in 3 months. You will not get a renewal if you don't meet the residency requirements.
