My situation is that my PR card expired last month and I am scheduled to fly to US for 4 days in about 5 weeks. I am a US citizen. I have seen a few comments on the forums that I may be able to return with an expired PR card if it is from the US? I am not eligible for urgent processing (according to the restrictions listed on CIC site). I am sending my PR renewal application by mail today. I will only be in US for 1 "business" day (a Friday)...would you recommend I try to go to Canadian Consulate while there to obtain a travel document?
Thanks for any advice!
You should be able to travel with your US passport only. You can tell them you are a PR when you get to the POE.
Don't tell the airline you are a PR, as they may refuse to board you without a valid PR card or PRTD.
I'm hoping they don't ask!

They won't ask if you are a PR. If the topic of status comes up, just say you are travelling as a visitor.
