Process is same everywhere, but since you are a student there - its a legit reason to apply as they don't prefer ppl who are on a visit to other countries and apply for visa
You are probably best to request a single entry visa on first try. Think about your questions from VO perspective. Would they believe a temple you have never visited would invite you to visit? Would they suspect you were not bring truthful about your visit reason? Always show all your assets, financial and property. Don't forget that it isn't just showing enough money to support your holiday, but to have money left in the account to live on once you return. Having a job that provides sufficient income goes a Long way to show you will not overstay.
You should be ok to request multi entry, I think the most is 5 years or one month before the expiration of your passport, whichever comes first. VO give you shorter if he/she wants to.
If they suspect you are going to work then your application will definitely get rejected.
Money to bring is based on your duration of stay, amount need to be sufficient, you gotta figure out what sufficient is
