Exchanging UK driving license (less than 2 years) to Ontario

Hello,

I know that I can exchange my UK driving license with Ontario driving license. My UK driving experience is > 12 months < 24 months.

UK license issued: 17/12/2014
Expiry: 24/12/2024

DriveTest sites says the following which is confusing:

12 to 23 Months

You can take the Class G2 road test immediately but you need to wait 12 months, less any credited driving experience, to take a Class G road test.

Class G2 Road Required Class G Road Test Required Mandatory Wait Times Apply
Yes Yes Yes

What is the difference between Class G2 Road Required and Class G Road Test Required ? If both are road test then why do I have to appear for them if I have more than 12 months of UK driving experience? Or is this something else (experience credit)

According to ontario.ca (exchange out of province driving license)

Less than 2 years driving experience (with exchange)
You need to take:

an eye test, when you apply
one road test (the G2 road test) (I will have to wait to quality for this, according to my UK license issue date I will have to wait until December 2016. Correct?)

Why does DriveTest site says two kind of test while ontario.ca just mentions one test (G2 road test)?

I am here since 3 weeks and have no Canadian photo ID. Can I apply for Ontario Photo Card while I also process the driving license application (Confused whether I will get a G1 driving license upon applying based on my circumstances)?

I cannot really comment either having not been a new driver for many years but the way i read it given you have less than 2 years you be subject to the G1 licence restrictions almost like being a new driver and may well have to take a theory and driving test.

Maybe you need to contact a test centre to clarify or simply wait until December 2016 when you would have passed the 2 year mark and need an eye test and a G2 test to exchange given the 17 months UK and 7 months Ontario as opposed to 2 years or greater UK when only eye test required

So because you have less than 2 years of driving experience you need to take the G2 test inorder to obtain a full G license. The sequence go like this:
- Pass the writing and eye exam: you obtain a G1 license. Learners license where you can only drive in a city accompanied by a full 4 years experienced G license holder.
- in 12 months you're eligible for the G1 driver's exam to get G2 license. Drive alone or with passengers, maintain 0% alcohol level and no highways.
- Another 12 months you're eligible for the G exam to obtain a Full G licence.
