I am currently enrolled in an exchange through my home university for the fall semester (Sep-Dec 2019). I am from New Zealand and will be going to Western University in London ON. As my study will only be for three months, I currently do not have a study permit.
I was planning on potentially extending my exchange to the full academic year, deciding this once I was in Canada. I have checked with my exchange advisors from both Western and my home university who both say that it will be possible to extend my exchange once I am over there. Is it true that it is possible to apply for a study permit as an exchange student once I am in Canada? I was concerned with how the logistics of this would work, especially in regards to biometrics. Is there somewhere I give my biometrics in Canada as a foreign exchange student or would I have to fly back to the VIC in NZ?
