Good day,
I currently studying right now as international student. One of my friend introduce me to get license in Harmonized Life license qualification program. I enrolled an online course to get the license. I'm about to take the provincial exam. I just read this exception.
- completed the majority of a study program by distance learning (online courses, e-learning or correspondence)
- completed a study program at a non-Canadian institution located in Canada
- took general interest or self-improvement courses
Does this mean I'm not eligible to apply for PGWP? What is the other option to get work permit?
Please let me know
Thank you,
Madel
Do you mean this is the only course you are taking?
If you are just taking this as extra course on your own time in addition to a valid course then it is fine. You must apply for PGWP with a valid course not this Harmonize course.
I'm studying digital health, i just came May of this year. While studying I took online course to become a life insurance agent. It is completed and I'm about take the provincial exam. When I search the PGWP it says there exclusion online course. I'm not sure what to next. Need advice please

I'm still attending school full time and taking additional course online to become a life insurance agent. But according to PWGF exclusion. Im not sure what I'm doing is part of the exclusion. Please advice me. Thank
One the exception- took general interest and self improvement what does this mean? Additional course such as Harmonized license qualification program is general interest?

The PGWP will be based on your actual full time studies. The life insurance agent course is irrelevant to that.
Right it doesnt matter, what that rule means is you cant apply for pgwp based on your online course. You will apply with your normal course if it is pgwp elligable.
I still continue my studies and go to school so I can appy for PGWP.
My problem is I enrolled or I'm taking additional course.
One of the exception to apply for PGWP is to took general interest and self improvement. Is Life insurance course considered as a general interest or self improvement?
Does this mean I can't apply for PGWP when I'm done my 1 year schooling because I enrolled additional course?
Im sorry. What i meant was that i am studying a full time program but i am also taking another course which is the life insurance course. According to the PGWP, taking general interest and self improvement course is not legible. So i am asking, is taking the life insurance course considered as taking a general interest or self improvement course?
Thank you.

Everyone understands what you are saying but you aren't listening to the responses. The insurance course is IRRELEVANT. The PGWP will be based entirely on your actual full time studies. I really don't know how to say it any clearer.
I understand that I can apply for the PGWP based on my full time studies. But then, there were exclusions stated in the cic. I am just asking IF the life insurance course is considered to be taking a general interest or self-improvement course because i am going to take a provincial exam for this. Thank you
Wouldn’t really say life insurance courses are general interest or self-improvement but that is just me. I would think taking something like a continuing education course (e.g. learning about Egyptian history a few hours a week for 3 months with no tests) or a course to teach you a hobby like photography is more like what they are talking about. The course for which you got a study permit is supposed to represent your only academic pursuit. You are taking courses and getting educated in another whole other profession. ,
