eTA delayed process time

Hi! I applied for my eTA on 16-05-14, and I have still not received it.. I will go to Canada in August as an exchange student (it's a part of my university program to go there). We will travel on the27th of August, however I read that the eTA will not be mandatory until 29th of September. Do you think that I will have problems with entering Canada if I don't get the eTA before traveling? Have anyone been able to enter Canada without an eTA?

eTA is not mandatory so no problems should arise.
