I am planning to pursue a post graduate diploma in accounting after which i will get some exemptions for few papers of Certified General Accountant (CGA). Is this possible to enter into CGA upon completion of my pg diploma and what are the chances of my study permit extension?
any advice please...
I am going for pg diploma in accounting too and I WAS really interested in CGA as well until they decided to merge all the accounting designation into one designation, that is, CGA,CMA and CA will now be CPA! the last intake for all three separate designations is over almost all over Canada except maybe Quebec and we only have the choice of CPA now which will be definitely harder than doing CGA alone. You can enroll for CPA as soon as you start your PG Diploma but you wont get a study permit extension just for pursuing a designation like CPA. You will have to do another diploma of 1 year if your current diploma is of 1 year to get a PGWP of 3 year to finish substantial amount of exams for CPA. Hope this helps.
