I am a German citizen and have recently applied for a work permit to work as a postdodoctoral fellow at a Canadian university.
Now, I would like to go to Canada as soon as possible to get to know the place etc., but I wonder whether this is a good idea given that the work permit is still pending and I might have to leave the country in order to activate it, once it is approved.
I already read some advice on this exact topic in this forum, but would appreciate any first-hand experience people in similar situations have had.
