My husband will be moving to Canada in the Spring from the UK and we have read that he needs to make a list of everything he is shipping and bringing over. Does anyone have an example of a list or know how detailed it needs to be? We are shipping some small house furnishings/clothing/ personal items.
It use to be called the B4 form. It's online at the CBSA website. Make it detailed for big dollar item and include serial numbers. Anything you you bring with you should be marked accompanying and anything coming later as goods to follow. It's tax and duty free up to $10k per item (not total). Just list simpler items as lots (ie. a box of clothes, kitchen dishes, etc). Fill it in before you travel. CBSA loves it when you do.

But yes, for jewellery / watches / laptops / cameras etc. (big ticket items), list each separately with serial numbers, perhaps a photo of jewellery with copy insurance valuations, but the rest can be 'grouped'. Mens clothes, kitchen crockery and utensils, books, ornaments, pictures, etc.
