I want to travel to usa for 4-5 days and my Pr card will expire soon. I’ll return to Canada few days before my PR card expires. I have applied for citizenship in feb 2018 and waiting for test invite. Also I’ve met all the residency requirements (1550 days). I’ll for sure apply for PR card renewal by next week too. But of course I wont get a new one before the current one expires. Do you think it will cause any problem/issue while leaving or entering Canada? Anyone has been through this kind of situation?
Would appreciate the insight from bright minds.
As long as your PR card is valid when you return there are no issues. If it's expired, and you are using commercial transportation, you will need a PRTD.
I did that with 1 day left on the card in January and there were no problems at all.
Normally the questions involve people who have also not met their RO and that is where the problem comes in.

That gives me a relief. So they didnt ask why you didnt renew earlier or so?

IRCC doesn't send out reminders to renew your PR card. That's the PR's responsibility. Besides, there is no requirement to have a valid PR card if you remain in Canada. It's only a travel document

No, they actually didn't ask me anything which is a rarity.
