Eligible to work or not?

I applied for my study permit extension on the 28th of November 2023 as my study permit was expiring on the 31st of December 2023 and I needed some time to apply and wait for my work permit. I applied for my work permit on 31st December as I never received any update and wasn't sure how many days or months they are going to take to extend my study permit. Now both of my applications (study permit extension and pgwp) are in process. I haven't received any authorization to work letter as well. I am so confused if I can still work or not?? Some people are saying you can't work so wait for letter of authorization or extension of study permit and some are saying you can work as you're on applied status. I tried asking immigration through webform but I don't know how many weeks they are going to take to reply. Please help I don't know what to believe anymore.

Why did you apply for the extension at first place? then applied pgwp 33days after? What was the reason for the extension?

You currently have implied status but it study permit extension takes a long time you are going into run into issues. Can you go to a land border?

Why did you apply for the extension at first place? then applied pgwp 33 days after? What was the reason for the extension?

I was not sure when I was gonna get my transcripts from college. I thought if it took more than a month and my study permit expired it would have put me on no status here and because of it, I hadn't been able to apply for my work permit as it says that you need to have a valid permit when you're applying for a pgwp that's why I applied for an extension to save some time for the documentation and the process.

You currently have implied status but it study permit extension takes a long time you are going into run into issues. Can you go to a land border?

I called IRCC and they said that I am on maintained status as I applied for my study permit extension before its expiry and also applied my work permit while carrying a valid study permit. They said you can work while we process your application. So, no issues.
