Effective July 2014 immediately, the duration of work permits set out in Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) will be limited to a maximum of one year for all low-wage positions, rather than the 2 year duration that existed previously. Employers of temporary foreign workers must reapply every year for an LMIA, better-accommodating for changes in labour market conditions that might have occurred.
Does anybody have any input on this?? Please advise.

Yes from now on, they're only issuing LMIAs for a maximum duration of 1 year rather than 2 years for low-skilled jobs. However, if you have a pre-moratorium LMO that has 2 years on it, then CIC or CBSA will still give you a 2-year permit. Aside from that, the new rules stand and all of us have to unfortunately suck it up and deal with the new rules.
