Dual intent

Hi,

I am hoping to apply for a post-graduate degree program in Canada. At the same time, I am hoping to apply for the PR as well. If I am granted admission, then I would be applying for the student visa, while my PR application is being processed. For the PR application, I would be the main applicant and for the TR application, my spouse would be applying for a work permit. I am afraid if my spouse's and my TR visa subject to refusal when we are having a PR application under review. Can anyone clarify if there is any chance to get our TRV's rejected in this context?

Yes there are fair chances of refusal.. you have to clearify your dual intent in your submission letter. Its ok to have dual intent. But achieving PR through study permit way is not acceptable by IRCC.. ultimately they will think you would not leave canada at the end of your authorized stay.. means you will overstay in canada to obtain PR. Thats where problem starts.. and visa officer refuse the TRV..... so convince visa officer that in any case after your TRV time limit you will leave canada. ..... it happened with me .. they refused me and said i am intending immigration through Study Permit. So be very careful in choosing your words for submission letter. Thats all i can tell you.

can somebody apply for PR in a different province and study in a different province?

[ Explanation can be written that pr is a primary application and study is a secondary application, and all the rules will be followed if PR gets approved (and study will be withdrawn). ]
