I am currently waiting for my IEC application which I applied for months ago, but I think the maximum for the Uk has already been reached. If I go to Canada and apply for an inland marriage sponsorship (after getting married there) will this be classed as dual intent, or would it be legitimate and therefore completely okay to do? I read on on tbe CIC website that it's okay if one is temporary and one is permanent but I am unsure where IEC falls into this. Thanks
Dual intent is perfectly OK. Someone who applies for a temporary entry can also apply for a permanent entry - for example, people who need a visa to enter Canada can apply for their PR visa, then apply for a TRV, saying they just want to visit while the PR application is being processed, and will leave Canada at the end of their stay.
So you can come to Canada for a visit, or come to Canada on IEC, and still apply to be sponsored.
However, do not talk about dual intent at the border. When you enter, just say you are visiting. The border agents know dual intent is allowed, but it is better to just answer any questions asked and not volunteer information.
