Dear friends,

I am a dual citizen.

When marrying my wife four years ago, I did so in her country using the passport of another country I am also a citizen of. It was simply easier (and much cheaper!) to get a visa for my wife’s country using this passport, as opposed to my Canadian passport. This means that, on our wedding certificate my name in a slightly different form and second, non - canadian citizenship are recorded.

To be clear: I am also a Canadian citizen.

Can I still sponsor my wife?

Sure you can. You are Canadian.

Of course you can.

As the others have said - yes.

But you will need to explain any discrepancy in names between the various documents.
