dual citizenship divorce issue, please help

Hi everyone, I have a question about how to file divorce in Canada if you are a dual citizenship.
I am a dual citizenship of Taiwan and Canada. My ex-wife is a Canadian, we got married and legally filed both in Taiwan and Canada. But things happened, we divorced but only filed in Taiwan many years ago because we lived there since we married, what I want to know to is can I take all my legal divorce documents from Taiwan and get filed in Canada now? What legal government department should I go to?

I believe you should contact the Province where you were married to ask them what they require.

If you have time and interest, read below for my own situation, different from yours but with some similarities.

I was divorced in Canada so had the local original documents from the Province of Ontario scanned and supplied with my Sponsorship Application Family Class PR Application.
In your case, I am not an expert but based on what you've said, and my experience having many documents supplied by foreign countries, here is my feedback:
1. Are your Taiwanese divorce papers in English language? If NO, get them translated into English.
2. Take your originals and translated documents to get notarised.
3. Supply your notarised documents as evidence of divorce to the Provincial office dealing with issuing divorce.

All of this costs money, so you may want to get additional feedback or further advice to be certain, but the provincial office issuing divorce papers should be able to advise on their requirements.

However, if time is money, and you are able, get the documents notarised anyway since these will likely be required by the Canadian Government if you are applying to Sponsor or Immigrate to Canada.
