I'm asking about my son, who will be attending university in Toronto in September. I'll start by describing his legal status.

My son, who was born in the United States, derives Canadian citizenship through me. I'm a Canadian citizen by virtue of the fact that I was born in Montreal. I lived in Canada for 35 years before moving to the United States, where I eventually became a US citizen. My son already has a Canadian passport, a Canadian citizenship card, and a S-I-N.

As a Canadian citizen, he qualifies for the Canadian citizen tuition rate at university (hooray!) However, he is not currently a resident of any Canadian province or territory, and living in student residence does not qualify him for Ontario resident status. This much is clear. If he decides to live on his own, i.e., not in university residence, he may eventually qualify to be an Ontario resident.

Beyond matters of tuition and provincial residence, are there any particular legal considerations or pitfalls that we need to be aware of?

I have no idea what you mean by "eventually qualify to be an Ontario resident". If he lives in Ontario, he is an Ontario resident.

Actually, that's not correct. An address in a student residence does not qualify for the purposes of being considered an Ontario resident. Once he has his own place, even as a renter, that counts.

Still no idea what you mean. Living in Ontario = Ontario resident. Can get OHIP, DL, bank account etc. What specifically are you referring to?

Good morning, I have been having issues filling the places in red under my employment history on IMM 1294 Form. I filled a date from 2018/07 to 2019/02. It didn't accept it, it was saying that the date I put to is smaller than the date I put from.

Please help me out. It is very urgent.
