I have a 2 years+ driving license NOC from my home country , now that I have landed in Toronto I want to apply for license here. I have heard that even though I have that letter I will need to give G1 written test and then will be given one single attempt for G test, if i fail that G test then I can only appear for G2 multiple times until I pass.

So the only benifit you get from that letter is getting only 1 chance to go for a G road test. Please correct me if I am wrong here.

That's correct. Having G is a plus since you get relatively cheaper insurance than if you have G2.
