I have been driving for 8 years back in my country, I have a valid drivers license from there as well as International Driver's Licence issued in European Union.
For a driving test in Ontario... Do I need to wait a year to attempt the drive test after passing the written exam?

I don't know which country you have a drivers licence with, but worth checking if there is an exchange programme for that country and Ontario and you can change one licence for another without tests (other than an eye test and the required documentation). The IDP means nothing.
I'm from Poland, my country doesn't have an agreement so I have to take tests.
I was just hoping to not to have to wait a year between the tests if I have a valid driver licence from Poland. I probably need to translate that though...
you would likely not have to wait, read up on your province's driving laws for getting credits for your international driving experience. It usually requires a driving abstract (not IDP) to be issued from your license issuing authority
