true, if you want to catch a movie, then lunch then do some shopping and then hit a club in different parts of town, you cant do all by bus. car gives you freedom
If you are in downtown, all the things would be a block away or connected to Subway/path or in same building. A car would be a headache or during idle in this case.
As someone said, location would probably depend upon day care location, wife's job, etc. Based on location, need for car will just follow. Op is going to be here for a month so housing considerations like wanting to buy a big house don't apply.
100% disagree if you live downtown. Best part is you can go out, party with your friends and not have to worry about who is driving home. Just made plans to do that with friends tonight.
this whole 'downtown' model of city planning is old and based on centralized train stations which brought people to one space, this is rapidly getting abandoned with more decentralization and offices setting up spaces in suburbs with plenty of room and greenery. never visited downtown and probably never will.
I disagree. Especially if Costco is in the underground floor, and the chain doesn't provide bags, it will be more convenient to bring your cart to carry bulky things to the 20th floor of your condo.
