Does sponsor need to submit no criminal record?

Hi fellows,
About no criminal record, I have a question, does CIC ask for no criminal record of the sponsor? Or just the person being sponsored? As my sponsor lived overseas more than two years other than his home country Canada, I'm just wondering would CIC ask for no criminal record for the time being from him.. We only submitted no criminal record of mine in our application.

Thanks for the reply, my sponsor is approved as being eligible, and our file has transferred to the relevant visa office. But we haven't heard anything since then. Just not sure whether CIC will ask for that later..

i do not think they ask for PCC for Sponsoror, they only ask for PCC for PA - principal applicant and others being sponsored.

if he is already approved as sponsoror, you dont have anything to worry about...

No the sponsor does not require to obtain any police or criminal records check.

CIC will do their own check on the sponsor. The sponsor does not need to submit one on their own.

No, you don't need one for sponsor.

A sponsor can have a criminal record, however they are not eligible if they were convicted of an offence of a sexual nature, a violent criminal offence, an offence against a relative that results in bodily harm or an attempt or threat to commit any such offences—depending on circumstances such as the nature of the offence, how long ago it occurred and whether a pardon was issued

As noted by someone before, CIC will do their own check on the sponsor.
