I know that getting social assistance from the government affects application to sponsor your wife/husband? I am single and currently a PR, will social assistance affect my citizenship application once I decide to apply?

If you are a masters student you likely don’t qualify for social assistance. You have chosen to return to school and not find employment. Full-time students are usually either dependent on student loans in order to pay for their studies, pause their studies until they have the funds to study or work full or part-time during their studies. You also have to be actively looking for work to qualify for welfare.

During the citizenship application process, no one cares about your financial situation, even if you were unemployed since the day you got your PR.

JUST make sure to DO your taxes for at least 3yrs in a row. Social benefits does not affect your application.
