I am studying PhD (Chemistry) at an Australian university (I am a Sri Lankan citizen studying in AU as an international student) and I am currently in my 3rd year and hoping to finish my studies soon. I and my husband are keen on applying for PR in Canada. As a requirement, I need to have min 1 Yr work experience. I want to know, whether my PhD (2.5 years) can be counted as work experience as I obtained a fully funded scholarship which includes a stipend every fortnight apart from the tuition fee and I am getting the leaves and it is stated in the offer of the scholarship. I am able to get a letter from the department head mentioning my role, duties and the salary I obtained (from the scholarship as my stipend, this is purely for studying the PhD, not work as a reseach assistant or a technical assistant). The PhD years are counted as work experience in Australia.

Great help if someone can clarify this as I couldn't find anything related to, on the government website.

Thanks, heaps in advance. :)
