Hello There,
I am a Ph.D student since May 2008, with a PAID Research Assistant position for 3 years. And then I received national scholarship with sufficient funds. From this point I am just a Ph.D student, NOT a paid RA, for 2.5 years. Does this 2+ years of experience (without a paid RA position) count towards my points ?
Thanks in advance!

I would like to further note that Duties did not change - I was essentially performing the duties of an RA without formal payment through the payroll system. I can obtain a letter confirming my RA duties as a PhD student.
Thanks for your replies.

RA is included in the NOC list of occupations and therefore it's considered as a legible work experience. However, to receive points for it you must have been payed and enrolled on a payroll because scholarship isn't a wage. To prove the work experience it has to be supported by social security registration and evidence that you paid taxes. This document is usually called Wage & Tax statement.
