My wife got her pr and will arrive in Canada on September 6th. Im assuming we will need to buy private insurance until she gets a health card from the government, even i had to get private insurance upon return to Canada because they cancel it if you're out of the country for several years. Will having her PR status give her health care benefits automatically or will we have to buy some prior to her arrival?

TSB....pretty sure every province is 3 months.......when I lived in Alberta I had to wait three months...but Ontario covered me for three months and then it was the same when I moved back to Ontario after 5 years.......I had to wait three months for OHIP but Alberta covered me for three months out of province

My family will need insurance for the first 90 days when we arrive in Canada. The question is, which insurance company offers the best rates and do they offer a short-term plan to accommodate newly landed immigrants?
