This may be an obvious anwer but I just wanted to confirm. If my canadian citizen wife is only sponsoring me a US citizen for PR in canada, do I have to have a medical exam as well? I am just a little unclear on the medical exam details as to when where and IF i need to do it.
Yes, everyone applying to immigrate to Canada must undergo an immigration medical exam with a DMP. It does not matter what country you're from, or what your age. Even newborn babies must complete them.
Since I posted I have contacted a Dr. authorized to do the exam. Their office inidcated to me that they can't do the exam until after I have applied and then CIC sends me a form to take with me to the exam. Does this sound accurate to you?
This is true with most classes of immigration - but not for spousal/common-law sponsorships. The spousal process provides a form with the application that you take to the DMP - CIC requires you to submit proof when you submit your application that the medical has been completed. Just tell the DMP's office that you're being sponsored by your spouse and that you have the required form, as provided in the application packet.
