recently got document checklist for upload and i was surprised as employment reference letter was requested from my dependent spouse, i thought dthis will be required from only primary applicant.
we do not have this letters, can we just upload employment letters, pay slips and account statements?

I faced a same situation as before ITA I did not know that I should have put blank in case of my spouse's work ex..
Later on, while filing my application I removed everything from my wife's work history and mentioned in personal history only. I mentioned in LOE that 'Since I am not claiming any points, I have removed from work history and mentioned only under personal history.'
i am thinking i should upload letters of employment and pay slips and also indicate in LOE that reference letters were not uploaded becaues we are not claiming any points for the employment

Yes, this should be fine too.. But do mention very clearly in LOE why you have not uploaded Reference letter.
Cause if the LOE doesn't reflect it clearly, then they might reject the application thinking that application is incomplete.
Just making you cautious. All the best bro !
If your spouse's work experience is NOT in Canada, it is useless and will NOT give you any points. So, REMOVE it from Work Experience section and mention them in Personal History section with an LOE and you do NOT need to upload any letters or pay stubs.
