I started my my Masters (thesis/research based) program in Canada in January (Winter) 2021. The normal duration of this program is 2 years. One of the examiners of my first thesis submission requested a thesis re-evaluation, which required me to work on addressing new research problems proposed by the examiner and update the thesis, thereby causing further delays in my program completion.
I'll be hitting 3 year mark by the end of this year, though the normal duration of program is 2 years. This was making me anxious whether taking longer is going to affect my chances. As much as I would like my program to be over, the feedback from the examiner caused me to re-do substantial portion of my preliminary research and proposing newer (novel) research contributions.
My question was: Wether taking more than usual time frame to compete is going to affect my chances for a PGWP?
Update: I have an extended study permit until end of 2024.
