does dead parents affect citizenship?

hello, my dad was a Canadian citizen before he died in nigeria in 2014. my two sister were born in Canada and me and my other three siblins were born in Nigeria. please i would like to know if we are citizens too. we have our dads death certificate and his citizenship card and other stuffs. thank you.

I believe if either parent (Living or deceased) was Canadian at the time of your birth you are Canadian, I believe all the information on this is on the IRCC website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/index.asp

Just apply for the citizenship through the Canadian Mission in your country of residence. I guess you need the birth certificate for that (assuming your dad was first generation Canadian or naturalized Canadian before your birth). The Canadian mission should inform you better in this regard.

Gather all your supporting documents, download citizenship by descent application form at cic.gc.ca
Then go to a canadian embassy near you and ask them all your pressing questions.
