Does current valid visa get cancelled if we apply for a new visa? (outside of Canada)

I would like to apply for a Visitor visa for my Mother. She has a visa which is valid until June 15th, and she has a ticket to come to Canada on June 7th. While her visa is valid for this trip, there is a chance that she has to postpone her trip, so I would like to apply for a new visa in case she postpone her trip. My question is will her current visa be valid until the decision of her new visa is made? I mean if we apply for a visa now, there is a chance that she does not get the answer by June 7th, so can she travel to Canada with her old visa?

1, Assuming you mean TRV (visitor visa) it expires on June 15th, then she requires a new one to enter Canada, there is no "implied status" on TRVs.

In other words, if someone has a valid TRV (Visitor Visa) and apply for a new TRV, does her current visa get cancelled or she can still with the current one until the decision is made for the new application?

1, Yes, she can travel to Canada up to midnight on the 15th of June. The current one is not cancelled.
