Hi all,
I’m a British emergency medicine trainee and I’m looking at doing a 4 month elective in Canada next year with a view towards possibly immigrating once I’ve finished my training.
The only issue is a few years ago I accepted a police caution for stealing a box of codeine (worth 83 pence) at work. At the time I was struggling with a lot of personal issues and a health condition, which have all been dealt with. I have spoken to someone from the Medical Council of Canada and they indicated that it wouldn’t be an issue for getting a licence to practice, but I’ve found lots of conflicting information about how it might affect any immigration application since there’s no direct equivalent of a caution in Canada.
Does anyone know if this will stop me from getting a visa? I don’t want to waste my time and apply for the elective if there’s no realistic prospect of me being allowed into the country...
