I was wondering if I could have some insights on applying for conjugal sponsorship as I am not sure if this is the route to go for us.
I am a Filipina PR in Canada, met my Pakistani partner in 2015 in Oman where I was working (he still works there). I resigned from my job in 2016 and in Dec 2016 - Jan 2017, the two of us were together in the Philippines for 6 weeks during which we did Nikah (islamic wedding, but without marriage certificate) witnessed by my family. Then he left the Philippines, stayed between Oman and Pakistan while I was in Philippines taking care of my sick father. January this year, I landed to Canada and I wanted him to visit me in July. We applied for his TRV in March then 2 weeks later got refusal. Now, I am thinking to bring him on family class as my conjugal partner.
What are our chances? Thanks in advance for your opinion.

hi, thanks for your quick reply. I thought so...... but would they only look at the possibility of legally getting married? We are also not able to live together for 12 months as visa duration in Oman and Philippines is too short + his Canada TRV was refused - would this not be considered? I read the CIC guidelines, just trying to get clarification and understand it right. Thank you very much
I remember we checked that with his embassy in Oman and i have to be a resident of Oman again to do so.... But i can double check.. Ok I get the idea: we should exhaust all options, like going to Seychelles or Georgia (those countries easy to get married in) even if it is difficult for Pakistani-passport holder like him to get visas to enter other countries. Thanks
