Hey there !

I have a question. If my partner sponsors me, ( I live in a country where I have to apply for an ETA -visa prior traveling to Canada. Which is an obligation, that has to be approved first. ) My question is, do I still need to apply for en ETA if my partner sponsors me ? How would that work ? or do I get a letter I can show in airport?

Ty in advance

Thanks for the reply. I do know permanent residents dont need a visa, it was more as in while I get sponsored, while the process is still going, and if I want to visit Canada, I still need to apply for an ETA right ( under the usual circumstances)? even though there is a sponsorship application in process ? Or I cant visit Canada before that ?

Just to clarify given your reference to a visa that an ETA is not an actual visa it is just an authority issued to visa exempt passport holders to board a plane destined for Canada. If not from a visa exempt passport country you would need a visitors visa not an ETA..
