I am in a similar situation. Passport expired 3 years ago. I have a search letter that will be valid till november 25th and the oath taking is on 18th Nov. What do i do? An early reply will be highly appreciated .Thanks

Its too late now. Even if you get a new passport you have a long gap between the expired and the new one. But to answer the question of whether someone should have a valid passport at all times. The answer is a definite yes. Officers have no way to verify that you didnt have a passport that you used to travel, and that you are omitting such information. One way for them to insure that you didnt is to actually send you an RQ, which I expect you will get, and hope not.

Can anybody reliably answer following Q

For Citizenship application do I need unexpired passport. or I can apply with expired passport?
