Do I need to take the IELTS exam?

My wife will be applying for a federal skilled worker when Canada opens up next year. She said that I should also take the exam since she doesn't know what will be the new rules. I'm working in Japan right now, while she works in the Philippines. All the schedule dates here are full for this year.

According to the current rules only the principal applicant is supposed to take the IELTS exam.Dont know until the new rules come up !!
