You dont need to submit your original passport for PCC. Most likely they will take a Xerox of front and back page at the passport office and give the passport back to you. Carry some copies with you just to be on the safe side. Depending on how crowded the passport office is, it might take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
