I have a study permit that expires in 2026. I want to renew my passport before I apply for PGWP to ensure the maximum validity. My international student advising office has told me that after I renew my passport, I apparently do not need to request a new study permit to reflect that new passport number, and that my study permit is still valid with my old passport number?
This sounds strange to me, because when I apply for my PGWP, I will have to submit my study permit and my new passport, so wouldn't they see that my passport number on my study permit does not match my new passport? Wouldn't that cause problems? Can anyone confirm what advising told me?
