Do I need temporary residence visa as a student if i already have a visitor visa?

Hi all,

I have a visitor visa for Canada which is valid until 2027. I am currently applying for a study permit to Canada. Would I still be asked for my passport (PPR)? I ask because the study permit is only a document which is handed over on arrival in Canada. If PPR is not required, would this speed up my student permit application process? Biometrics is already done and medicals is also already done.

You may (probably) still be asked for your student visa. You may not be, but you may be asked. This would not speed up the process to "decision made."
