Do I need an eTA if I am landing with an approved sponsorship?

Hi,

Got my sponsorship approved a few months ago and am flying tomorrow. Do I need to have an eTA? I am from the UK.

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone on here for all the help/information, I definitely couldn't have navigated this process without this resource!

No you don't need an eTA. The PR status is already linked to your passport!

Nominally you don't need an eTA (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1184&top=16), but several people have reported difficulty with airlines, as the computer system can't issue a 'board' message (no eTA), and the airline counter staff are often less than enthusiastic to let you on based on a piece of paper stamped "Not valid for travel".

$7 for piece of mind is probably very well spent to be safe.
