Do I need a study permit?

I am a 17 years old student, I will be 18 in a few months, I came to Canada as a visitor and I registered in a highschool. I will be staying in Canada alone without my parents. I know that I can study for less or equal to 6 months after my entry but I think my highschool will take more than 6 months to finish, so I will need to apply for study permit with my highschool as my DLI, after my highschool finishes should I get a new study permit for university or the study permit with my highschool as my DLI is enough? I will not apply to university this year too.

So you are studying in high school on a visitor visa without your parents? You need a study permit and pay international fees for high school. What province are you in because you may need a guardian too. For post secondary. For post secondary, you apply for a new permit - show strong ties to your country, funds, career opportunities in home country, travel history etc.

Ontario, I don't think I will need a guardian am I right?

You are a minor until you turn 18 so you need a guardian. Are you studying now?

But given you are registering to attend high school then you best have a guardian especially if your parents are not with you. Your school may provide those services if attending private school. Your decision. Apply and see what happens. Given you will be 18 by the time processed, it may make no difference.

lolz i very much doubt that. Study permit inside canada is very rarely rejected.

Really, he is a visitor ”living” in Canada. Wants to get a study permit to complete high school, then live in Canada for another year until post secondary program begins.

but so many apply for a second dli course (for 3 yr permit ofcourse) inside canada and never ever i have seen anyone being rejected.

High schools aren’t DLIs so you can’t compare. He is going from high school to post secondary so not the same as going between DLIs.
