Hi all,
I tried to search for this one first but I couldn't find anything. All I'd like to know is if I have to send the original proofs along with my application. I will be applying for common-law sponsorship soon, and in order to prove that our relationship is genuine, I could also send some letters and postcards that my girlfriend and I have been writing to each other the last 5 years.
Do I have to send the original ones? Or can I send a copy?
And I also have some hotel receipts of our trips together. Is it worth sending copies of those too?
I would provide 'originals', we did. We didn't include them all mind you. Yes, to the hotel receipts. Some folk are posting that they are receiving some or all of their proofs back. That may vary by VO office.
Basically - don't submit originals of things that you are not prepared to "loose" - if some letters are really important to you, send a copy, and explain that because of their sentimental value, you preferred to send copies, but have the originals ready if they are needed. Assume that you won't get anything back, and if you do - that's even better!
Originals of official documents are compulsory, for the proofs, it's more up to you.
Good luck,
Sweden
Originals is the safe way to go, keep a copy of everying for urself just in case. Its a long and gruesome process.... dont help it by posibally prolonging it (if they request originals later on).... plus u can get documents re-issued.... if the thgt of losing greeting cards etc bothers, i suggest speaking to ur pa rtner about it ....best of luck....
