I have a question about confirming Canadian citizenship. I am the illegitimate child of my biological parents, who were both married to other people at the time I was conceived. Both my biological parents are dead. My father was born in Canada to Canadian parents, which means I am legally a citizen of Canada.
My question is whether/how to use DNA test results to prove my parentage. I have a first cousin in Canada and a half-niece born in the US that I match with based on genome test results. Can this be used as proof, or can DNA tests with my half-siblings be used? I have no legal documents establishing a connection. To my biological father, but the DNA tests are conclusive.

Yes, but this is for citizenship application whereas I am trying to get a citizenship certificate. Maybe the same rules apply. The information at this link is a little fuzzy as to what happens if the Canadian parent is dead and I do t have full siblings, but it does seem like there is probably a path forward.

You can't use DNA tests that you've had done already, and they only accept results from specific laboratories. You fill out the application for proof of citizenship and include a letter of explanation of why you did not include your biological father's birth certificate, and that you have a paternal cousin who can provide DNA evidence. If IRCC accepts your explanation, then they will request a DNA test.
