Hello Everyone,

I sponsored my mother 6 years ago and she has been living with us in Toronto ever since. About a year ago we found out that she has kidney failure and she recently started on Hemodialysis. I learned that if a person is on dialysis, she is considered disabled.

I was wondering if she applies for disability and receives money from Ontario, will I have to pay for that later? As I am financially responsible for her for 10 years, I wasn't sure if disability payments will track me back later.

Anyone had similar situation?

Thank you so much in advance for your responses.

based on the information here http://www.mcss.gov.on.ca/documents/en/mcss/social/directives/odsp/income_Support/2_5.pdf you would be responsible for repayment of ODSP if your mother applies.
