I'm sponsoring my boyfriend who is here on a work/holiday permit. It was my understanding that these permits could not be extended so we didn't include the extension with the sponsorship/prapplication when we sent it out end of March.
His work permit expires at the end of May. We're going to send a TRV extension but is there anyway I could send the work permit extension and explain my situation. I dont want that to not get attached and then he'd be out of status and have to apply for restoration. Help!!!
Normally you can not extend a WHV but in some instances, you can apply again for the same program or apply for a similar program. If you can not do that, then you must at least apply to change his status to visitor before his WHV expires so he doesn't get out of status. If you are going to do that anyway, you might as well send a work permit extension request along, based on the sponsorship application and see if it flies but as a backup if they can't or wont do that, ask them to change his status to visitor.
