DETAILED UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS INSTEAD OF MARKSHEETS

Hi,
If someone's marksheets are lost for last degree then the transcripts for the last degree from the university will help?or one should go for his duplicate marksheets from university?and would duplicate marksheets from the university be accepted by visa office?Need guidance for my cousin.
